Certificate of Competency Sample and Template

Certificate of competency is the type of document issued by a designated Government authority that the named contractor has fulfilled the requirements of receiving and performing a particular contact. The certificate of competency is issued to the people, who have successfully completed certain national boating licenses or have passed an examination to prove the necessary competency. The Small Business Administration (SBA) certified a Government contracting officer to receive and perform a specific Government task. A contracting officer shall, upon determining an apparent successful small business offer to be non-responsible, refer that small business to the SBA for a possible Certificate of competency, even if the next acceptable offer is also from a small business.

Certificate of Competency

A certificate of professional competence is a certificate required by all heavy vehicle operators and drivers over and above their driver’s or operator’s license. The certificate of competency is issued to the people, who have successfully completed certain national boating licenses or have passed an examination to prove the necessary competency. This ruling also applies to freelance operators employed by businesses. Experienced drivers may get their Certificate of competency through “acquired rights” but must complete 35 hours of training and have been issued with their licenses before 10 September 2008 for bus and coach drivers and before 10 September 2009 for truck drivers.

You can have your certificate of competency renewed if you have completed at least 12 month’s service during the last five years or three month’s service during the last six months. When you need to have a certificate of competency renewed, you must be able to document completion of a refresher course in basic maritime safety and fire-fighting with the destination. If you do not meet the requirements for renewal, you must re-acquire your certificates.
